ATTENDANT
I think you want to see
them sir. Yes.
The
attendant puts down the phone and looks at Fred and Lawyer.
ATTENDANT
Dr. Dobin will be out to
see you shortly.
Dr.
Dobin comes out about ten seconds later from the office on the other
side of the hall.
DR DOBIN
Mr. Noble, so glad to
see you. Perhaps there has indeed been some misunderstanding. You
see Mr. Noble checked himself into our clinic.
FRED
Really? That sounds like
crap to me.
DR DOBIN
He specifically
requested that no one be informed that we admitted him. He is
demonstrating...well, extreme catatonic manic depressiveness.
LAWYER
Those terms are
contradictory.
DR DOBIN
Are they? Well, here,
come-you'll see for yourself. He just sits in the corner and babbles
to himself all day.
Dr.
Dobin, Fred and Lawyer walk down the hall.
INT.
PADDED CELL - DAY
Frank
Noble has a straight jacket on and is babbling to himself. He looks
up at a camera in the wall and makes faces at it. Then he turns to
the wall.

FRED
I don't think you
understand. My brother has been locked up here. As his next of kin,
I was not notified. I demand to see him immediately.
ATTENDANT
What is the name of the
patient?
FRED
Frank Noble.
ATTENDANT
I'm afraid we have no
patient here by that name.
FRED
This is my lawyer, she
seems to think that you're holding out on us.
LAWYER
I have definite
testimony from another patient here that Mr. Noble is indeed here and
being held against his will. We can contact law enforcement
authorities but felt that it might be easier for all involved if we
tried to handle the situation quietly, but if you insist on making a
ruckus about the issue.
FRED
I'm in the mood to make
a ruckus. Are you in the mood to make a ruckus?
LAWYER
I...couldn't say.
ATTENDANT
Hold please.
The
attendant picks up the phone and calls Dr. Dobin again.
ATTENDANT
I think you want to see
them sir. Yes.

J.R.R. THORNE
Send a medic up for Doc
Shadows. Also arranged to have Frank sent to the Bellweather
facility. Tell Jason his footage worked perfectly. He believed the
whole thing. No. We didn't get the results. But we will.
J.R.R.
Thorne puts the phone down and looks at a blathering Frank.
J.R.R. THORNE
We will.
EXT.
LUNATIC ASSLYUM - DAY
FRED
NOBLE heads towards a sanitarium with a lawyer in tow. Various
patients lay around the grounds doing various crazy things. Fred is
obviously very angry.
INT.
LOBBY OF ASSLYUM – DAY
Fred
walks up to the front desk. He approaches an attendant.
FRED
My name is FRED Noble.
I want to see the person in charge of this place.
ATTENDANT
That would be Dr. Dobin.
I'll get him.
The
Attendant picks up the phone and dials a number.
ATTENDANT
Dr. Dobin? There is a
FRED Noble here to see you. Yes. I'll tell him.
The
attendant puts the phone down.
ATTENDANT
I'm sorry, but you will
have to make an appointment.
FRED
I don't think you
understand. My brother has been locked up here. As his next of kin,
I was not notified. I demand to see him immediately.

Fight it! Drill into
him!
Doc
Shadows clutches his hands to his forehead.
DOC SHADOWS
I …nearly….Impossible!
Slashing and burning his own mind….he’s tossing aside his own
sanity to keep me from
FRANK
Yo Hoho O forces of
EVIL! Yohohohoho…I am the mighty….I am the MIGHTY
DOC SHADOWS
I almost
Doc
Shadows collapses from the pain.
J.R.R.
Thorne sits next to Frank Noble, looking into his now mad eyes.
J.R.R. THORNE
Touché Dr.
Noble…touché….but I've got most of what I need. The rest is
only a matter of time.
FRANK
I am the model of a
modern major general, I am familiar with both animal vegetable and
the prodigious use of highly placed explosives…
J.R.R.
Thorne goes over to the phone again and presses a button.

presses a button on the phone and speaks into it. The screen goes
black. There is gunfire, and screams can be heard, Frank stares in
horror at the screen, and shakes his head in denial.
J.R.R. THORNE
Kill them!
FRANK
NO!
DOC SHADOWS
I will regress you to
the age of two for this. Just who do you think you are dealing with?
Just because you have a little toy that keeps me from easily reading
your mind does not really defend you from me.
J.R.R. THORNE
You WILL be party to
this or everything we worked for is useless. His mind is now open to
you, you know it, and I know it. Take him now, or do I have to find
another telepath, and kill more of Dr. Noble’s family until I have
what I want. You are expendable, he is expendable, but what he knows
is not. By any means, my Dear Doctor.
Doc
Shadows glares at Thorne, but finally squats again and stares into
Dr. Noble’s eyes.
DOC SHADOWS
He’s still fighting,
but I can…yes…I’m nearly there…I have it…
Doc
Shadows shrieks in pain.
Frank
Noble thrashes back and forth painfully.
FRANK
TALLYHO!

J.R.R. THORNE
I thought as much,
fortunately, I’ve come prepared.
J.R.R.
Thorne swings the chair around.
J.R.R. THORNE
Observe the video, Dr.
Noble. I think you’ll be interested to see this.
J.R.R.
Thorne holds Frank Noble’s head up to be able to see the video
screen.
J.R.R. THORNE
Are those your parents,
Dr. Noble?
Frank
suddenly becomes more animated, and begins to struggle at the
restraints.
FRANK
What are you doing?
J.R.R. THORNE
I thought as much. I do
my homework Dr. Shadows, and I’ve come to learn that certain
violent and sudden psychological trauma can undo these ‘psychic
barriers’ you speak of. Let’s find out, shall we?
DOC SHADOWS
You know I do not
condone to the harming of innocents. That was part of our
arrangements.
J.R.R.
Thorne picks up the phone and looks at Doc Shadows
J.R.R. THORNE
In this war, Dr.
Shadows, there ARE no innocents.

[Script] Tossing Grenades at Windmills - Page 6
J.R.R. THORNE
Your opinion isn’t
necessary, Dr. Noble. In fact, if you had simply cooperated in the
first place none of this would have happened. You’re a normal flesh
and blood human being, like I am. If you can’t understand the logic
of what I’m doing, then you’re just not cut out to be among the
living…you’re no better than everyone else who blindly sits by
and lets these demigods run amok about the earth.
DOC SHADOWS
(chuckles)
Am I a demi-god then?
J.R.R. THORNE
It is interesting Doctor
Shadows, that you question my logic. You didn’t question it when
you joined my organization. Are you doing so now?
DOC SHADOWS
(pauses)
No. It is necessary.
J.R.R. THORNE
Then proceed with your
interrogation.
Doctor
Shadows squats down on his legs and stares again into Frank’s eyes.
There is a brief visible struggle.
DOC SHADOWS
Amazing…he’s still
holding on some how. He’s got something he’s using as a psychic
barrier against me….I’ve never seen such willpower.

DOC SHADOWS
Yes, he’s
weakening…one more time and I should have it. I’m ready to begin
at any time.
J.R.R.
Thorne flips a switch on the side of the chair, causing Frank to jolt
as if from an electric current.
J.R.R. THORNE
Why waste a perfectly
good telepathic probe when you can do it the old fashioned way…
Doc
Shadows turns off the switch.
DOC SHADOWS
That wasn’t necessary.
J.R.R. THORNE
Of course it didn't help
get the information from him, but I think it was, Doctor Shadows,
very necessary. It was the kind of necessary that a young mother
feels when she shoots the man that ran over her child and drove away
into the night, it’s the kind of necessary our founding fathers
felt when they dumped the tea into the Boston Harbor, and it’s the
kind of necessary that I’ve felt every day of my entire life for
the last twenty years. I assure you Doctor Shadows, it was and is
necessary.
DOC SHADOWS
I believe your logic has
a few flaws in it Thorne.
FRANK
(weakened)
I’ll second that
